A posição da CNI diante da ofensiva neoliberal brasileira (2016 - 2022)

Abstract

The CNI has historically represented the interests of the large industrial inner bourgeoisie. In the context of the recent Brazilian political crisis, the entity played a prominent role on the political scene and influenced the direction of national politics in several aspects. The objective of this research is to analyze the historical and conjunctural demands of industrialists in the period from 2016 to 2022, in particular the political position adopted by the CNI in the face of the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff, the government of Michel Temer, the 2018 presidential election, the government of Jair Bolsonaro and the 2022 presidential election. The research sought to combine bibliographic reading and journalistic websites with the study of cover stories and editorials written by the president of the entity published in the Revista da Indústria Brasileira, which is produced by the CNI. In addition to supporting Dilma's impeachment and the Temer and Bolsonaro governments, throughout the analyzed situation, the CNI sought to give centrality to the approval and discussion of a series of constitutional counter-reforms, such as: labor, social security, tax and administrative, having also contributed to the approval of the amendment to the Spending Cap, the New Secondary Education and the sale of Petrobrás to private capital. In the situation in question, the CNI actively adhered to neoliberalism, defending the reduction of the role of the State in the economy, the withdrawal of labor rights, the reduction of taxes, the expansion of private capital participation in infrastructure projects, among other proposals.
