The cinematic work addresses various relevant themes, such as representation and the manifestation of homophobic attitudes in society. Since its premiere, the film has sparked controversies due to its portrayal of a same-sex romance between the two mentioned characters. Building upon this premise, this research proposes the utilization of "Brokeback Mountain" as a source for historical analysis, aiming to understand the American society's reaction to its release and the resulting consequences in the current pop culture landscape.pt_BR

A obra cinematográfica aborda diversos temas relevantes, tais como a representatividade e a manifestação de atitudes homofóbicas por parte da sociedade. Desde o momento de sua estreia, o filme gerou controvérsias devido à sua representação de um romance homoafetivo protagonizado pelos dois personagens mencionados.
