Manejo odontológico de paciente oncológico pré e pós transplante de medula óssea: relato de caso.

Abstract

Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) is a procedure indicated for the treatment of onco-hematological diseases that compromise the functioning of the bone marrow. For the success of its performance, dental follow-up must occur before and after the procedure due to immunosuppression and adverse reactions that may affect the patient in this period. Low immunity favors the exacerbation of preexisting oral problems. Therefore, any infectious focus of oral origin must be previously eradicated. In the Oncology Sector of the Federal University of Uberlândia, autologous BMT is performed and the patient undergoes dental evaluation and follow-up at all stages of this process. After the previous dental evaluation, the patient is released for the BMT. During the hospital stay for the transplant, the patient is again monitored by the dental team in order to prevent and treat any adverse reactions that may arise. The present work aims to report the dental follow-up of a patient diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma during this process.
