dc.description.resumo | Cherubism is described as a rare condition of development of gnathic bones, usually hereditary with an autosomal dominant character. This condition affects the mandible and maxilla of children, bilaterally and symmetrically. Radiographically, cherubism presents radiolucent and multilocular lesions, similar to giant cell lesions. The objective of this report is to present a rare case of cherubism in its most severe degree of involvement (degree 4), treated surgically with the aid of virtual preoperative planning. A 22-year-old female patient attended the stomatological diagnosis clinic at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) complaining of facial growth. After clinical and tomographic evaluation and due to the confirmation of a previous diagnosis of cherubism, the treatment modality involved performing a virtual planning for programming the height and thickness resection, in addition to mandibular contour, with the aid of cutting guides in the transsurgical. No postoperative complications were seen and at 5 months of follow-since the operation, the patient has no functional deficits, presents satisfactory esthetics and no recurrence. | pt_BR |
