N: Malignant breast cancer is an important public health problem, as it is a disease of high incidence and mortality related to multiple risk factors in developing countries, a classification in which Brazil is included. In this sense, the phenomenon of being a woman becomes more complex to be understood, especially after mastectomy, a time when women encounter difficulties of biopsychosocial nature to face the activities of daily living. OBJECTIVES: To review and summarize studies that seek to portray and understand the experience of self-care in women with breast cancer after mastectomy. STUDY DESIGN: This is a systematic review of the literature with thematic analysis of qualitative studies. METHODS: The studies were selected on three online search platforms, Web of Science, Embase and PubMED. For the construction of the search strategy for the studies, the index terms contained in the conceptual map through the PICOS strategy were considered. The deduplication of the studies found was performed using the bibliographic referencing software Zotero®. The review flow was recorded and directed through the recommendation of the PRISMA flow chart. The results of eligible studies were analyzed and categorized by theme. CONCLUSION: We found that this systematic review of the literature achieved the desired objectives, as it was able to portray and understand the self-care experience of women with breast cancer after mastectomy, in addition to identifying other topics related to self-care.pt_BR
