Queerness em tela: representações da performatividade LGBTQ+ no audiovisual a partir do seriado Pose (2018)

Abstract

This dissertation aims to study and analyze the audiovisual representation of LGBTQ + subjects' performativity and their precarious conditions within contemporary society and the 1980s / 1990s from the North American series Pose, having as main reference the writings of the philosopher Judith Butler. The work addresses themes such as sexuality, gentrification, as well as the concepts of simulacrum, by Gaston Bachelard, and imagination, by Jean Baudrillard, seeking to understand their relationships within the script of the series and how it addresses the suggested themes. It also intends to analyze the relationship between the audiovisual work and its audience, thinking about a double construction, based on the reflections of Jesús MartinBarbero. Other themes such as the influence of New York balls' culture within cultural movements from the 1980s onwards, realizing its links with a contemporary pop culture. Issues such as AIDS and harassment towards these subjects will also be addressed. All the themes of this work will be analyzed and placed in counterpoint with the representation made by the television series and what are their meanings within this narrative
