The feeding behaior of Bothrops moojeni with exothermic and endothermic preys was studied among 27 specimens from two litters, one of 20 and another os seven individuals, of different ages. The "animal focal" method was used offering, individually, endothermic (newborn and young mice) and exothermic (tadpoles and young frogs). The snakes were observed in terms of their interest in the prey, use os the tongue in the localization of prey, capture strategy, manipulation and ingestion. Eighteen individuals (66,7%) showed preference for endothermic prey (young mice) and only one individual (5,6%) fed on exothermic prey (tadpoles). A strategy of poisoning the prey onvolving lunging, seizing, biting and dragging the prey was the most frequent method. A total of 35% bit the prey immediately after seizing it. The exothermic prey that did not move during the experiment did not attract the interest os the snakes, evidencing the importance of vision in the process of hunting for prey.pt_BR
