This paper aims to discuss the representation of the intellectual in this play \"Life of Galileo\" by Bertolt Brecht, in its third version produced in 1954. The part of the plot takes place in seventeenth-century Italy and depicts a partial biography of Galileo Galilei, a renowned scientist of his time. But, this intellectual suffers from social oppressions of his time to think and produce knowledge. The piece discussed the unique characteristics of the inserted intellectuals in scientific development in the post World War II period. Therefore, think about the features which in turn are part of the developed discussion, such as engagement, critical theory of knowledge in the twentieth century, autonomy in intellectual work and the possibilities in part to reflect on what a intellectual on the historical and social process, make up the focus of this discussion.
