A prática do skate de rua em Uberlândia/MG é um agente participativo da produção da cidade e da democratização dos seus espaços públicos. A comunidade skatista produz seus próprios lugares, os picos. Essa produção é feita pelo agenciamento construtivo chamado D.I.Y., no termo nativo. Ele toma partido de oportunidades e situações já existentes na cidade para a produção de uma rede de lugares, criando uma veladura dissidente no tecido urbano. A performance corporal coletiva com um skateboard corre contra a segregação espacial e evidencia a multiplicidade de relações estabelecidas pela comunidade skatista na cidade. Surfar a cidade reflete formas de resistência, mais ou menos implicadas num confronto que envolve disputas de sentido e questionamentos de representações hegemônicas. Por meio de poéticas marginais e libertárias, a rede de picos evoca o eventual e precário acesso ao espaço urbano como um bem comum.
Abstract
The practice of street skateboarding in Uberlândia is the agent in the production of the city and the democratization of its public spaces. The skateboarding community systematically engages in creating its own spaces, known as picos. This production is carried out through a constructive agency referred to as D.I.Y. (an abbreviation for do it yourself), a term rooted in the community's dialogues, narratives, and testimonials.The D.I.Y. approach takes advantage of existing opportunities and situations in the city to create a network of places, overlaying the urban fabric with a dissident layer. Each member of the community carries a micro-history that reflects forms of resistance, more or less directly engaged in a confrontation of competition over symbolic social values and challenges to seize control of the symbols.
Surfing the city happening across multiple layers of action | intervention | urban.The overlap of these layers generates a dissident landscape. The collective bodily performance with a skateboard opposes spatial segregation and highlights the multiplicity of relationships established by the skateboarding community with the city. This dissident city call up the seldom and poor access to urban space as a draft for the utopia of the right to the city.
