Abstract
The objective is to continue to develop a numerical platform in annular channels, present
problems in engineering and drilling of oil and gas industry. The numerical platform,
developed using the method of finite volume discretization, employing methods and schemes
of second order. The use of immersed boundary method allows for the representation of
structures that represent the geometry defining the problems. The original version (with
virtual physical model) was modified by replacing the model that assesses the strength
lagrangian, and implemented the model called multi direct forcing. This modification led to a
considerable reduction of the computational cost of simulating about 16 times. With this
reduction in time, it was possible to work with more refined meshes, which made the
simulations of the flow with the most reliable reference data. So you can show more clearly
the formation of Taylor vortex during the transient until steady state flow in Taylor-Couette,
Taylor-Couette with forced oscillation, Taylor-Couette with shift forced Taylor-Couette with
oscillation and translation forced Taylor-Couette Spiral, Taylor-Couette Spiral with forced
oscillation. A final application was considered with the aim of assessing the numerical
methodology facing problems with moving interface is not imposed.
