O presente trabalho tem o intuito de analisar as trajetórias de um grupo de caminhoneiros, no sentido de compreender a maneira como interpretam suas experiências de trabalho e vida. Através das narrativas desses sujeitos foi possível perceber como eles viveram as transformações sociais ocorridas a partir da década de 70 e como perceberam
seus efeitos através de mudanças na profissão. Nas condições de trabalho, revelaram os conflitos e as limitações que enfrentam quotidianamente, transformando cada dia de
trabalho em uma batalha a ser vencida na luta por permanecer na profissão. Relatam as perdas: de status, que envolvia o glamour que atraía muitos homens a se aventurarem pelas estradas ao encontro do desconhecido; e de valores, alterados a partir da inserção de novos
elementos na concorrência pelo transporte de cargas. As transportadoras passam a ditar regras, assumindo o controle do serviço, instituindo mudanças nas relações entre os
companheiros da estrada e, sobretudo, relegando ao caminhoneiro o lugar de subordinado e explorado. Também se fez necessário compreender as relações dos caminhoneiros em outros espaços de convivência, fora do trabalho. A valorização da família emergiu das falas como um sentimento que resistiu, apesar dos longos períodos de ausência e do pouco tempo para o convívio em família. A falta de tempo é também a limitação para o desempenho de outras práticas, como o lazer e as relações de vizinhança. Analisar essas questões revelou trajetórias diferenciadas de homens que lutam, através do trabalho como caminhoneiros, para transpor barreiras no desempenho da profissão, em prol de melhores condições de vida.
Abstract
The aim of this work is to analyze the trajectory of a group of truck drivers, with the sense to understand the way they interpret their own experiences of labour and life. By
means of these fellow s narratives was possible to have knowledge of how they lived the social transformations occurred from the 70 s forth and how they perceived their effects through of changes into the profession. In the labour s conditions, the drivers revealed the conflicts and the limitations they daily face, transforming every single day of labour in a battle to be won in the fight to persist in their profession. They narrate the loss: the status, that involved the glamour to draw several men to adventure themselves by the roads to meeting the unknown; and the values, that were altered with the insertion of new elements on the freight transportation s competitiveness. The transportation companies pass to lay down the rules, taking over the job s command, instituting changes in the relationships among the roadmates and, mainly, relegating to the truck driver the state of subordinate and exploited. That s also needful to understand the drivers relations in other companionship s
places, out of work. The valorization of family emerged from the speeches as a feeling of resistance, although the long periods of absence and the short time to live together their
families. This absence of time is also the limitation to the other practices acting, like leisure and relationships of neighborhood. To analyze these questions revealed different
trajectories of fighting men, through their jobs as truck drivers, to hurdle obstacles in their profession s performances, in favour of better conditions of life.
