vivos, natimortos e mumificados.
Abstract
Brazil takes up a spotlight position in the global pig industry and, for keep a competitivity of the sector is
needed that had improvement in the enterprise management, in the environment and in the productive.
The search for economic efficiency engages the improvement production systems over the productive
chains, but especially in characteristics and quality of the swine matrices, aiming increase in the number
of piglets/sow/year, associated with the increase of the pieces/matrix/year. Therefore, that the greater
the mother's prolificacy and her ability to produce milk for breastfeeding, thegreater her energy demand,
evidencing the importance of adequate nutrition so that all nutritional needs during the different stages
of pregnancy and lactation are met. assisted, in order to obtain satisfactory results regarding the
number, health and productive quality of the litter. Note that the body score index of the sows directly
influences their reproductive and longevity indices, although the nutritional needs ofthese females, as
well as the availability of nutrients in the diet are still little known. In this way, it is possible to increase
knowledge about the interaction between nutrition and reproduction, since sows have become more
demanding and less resistant to nutritional challenges. Currently, the body score index measurement
method in swine farms is carried out by the caliper. The objective of this research was verify the a
transmutation between the body score index of the sows both at the time of insemination and the
number of piglets live births, stillborn and mummified.
