Resumo
O tema desta pesquisa consistiu em apreender um dos aspectos da história da Escola
Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Profª. Vicência Malcher, localizada no meio rural de
Marapanim/PA, no período de 1974 a 2004. Para tanto, a questão proposta incidiu sobre a
busca pelas representações construídas por alunos e professores a respeito dessa instituição de
ensino. O objetivo geral foi perscrutar os significados que esses sujeitos atribuíram à referida
escola em suas vidas, sendo que os objetivos específicos consistiram em compreender: a) os
horários de funcionamento, séries ofertadas e total de alunos; b) as características dos
professores no que concerniu à idade, formação e meios de ingresso na docência; c) origem
social e idade dos alunos. Para atingir tais objetivos foram utilizadas como fonte: história oral
(entrevistas com quatro ex-alunos e quatro professoras) e documentos escolares impressos. As
categorias prévias de análise foram as seguintes: cultura escolar (espaço e tempo), cultura
empírica, representações e práticas. Os resultados aos quais chegamos permitiram vislumbrar
o importante papel atribuído a essa escola por seus ex-alunos e professoras. Para essas a
escola representou um lugar de oportunidades e realizações e para aqueles ela se constituiu em
um espaço formador e de sociabilidades.
Abstract
The theme of this research consisted in learning one of the aspects of the story of the “Escola
Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Profª. Vicência Malcher”, located in the municipality of
Marapanim in the state of Pará, during the period of 1974 to 2004. Therefore, the proposed
question focused on the search for the representations constructed by students and teachers
about this educational institution. The general objective was to comprehend what meanings
these subjects attribute to the school in their lives and the specific objectives were: understand
the operation of the school as it pertains to operating hours, grades offered and total amount of
students; learn the characteristics of the teachers, such as:age and how they obtained jobs at
the school and education degree; learn the social origins and age of the students. To achieve
these goals, were used as a source: oral history (interviews with four former students and four
teachers) and printed school documents. The previous categories of analysis were as follows:
school culture (space and time), empirical culture, representations and practices. The results
we arrived at allowed us to glimpse the important role attributed to this school by his former
students and teachers.For these, the school represented a place of opportunities and
achievements, and for those it was a formative and sociability space.
