Resumo
Os sistemas de ensino a distância tem recebido cada vez mais apoio para pesquisa e desenvolvimento por proporcionarem vantagens tais como: reduzir os problemas causados pela distância entre o aluno e escola e flexibilizar os horários de estudo. Apesar de muitos sistemas de instrução assistida por computador serem bem sucedidos ainda encontramos oportunidades de melhoria no processo de monitoração.
O principal objetivo desta pesquisa é propor um sistema tutor inteligente baseado em rede neural artificial para reduzir o índice de alunos com baixo desempenho em linguagem de programação. O sistema monitora a navegação do aprendiz durante a etapa de estudo sugerindo sempre o melhor caminho a ser percorrido visando o melhor resultado. A rede neural foi treinada para monitorar uma determinada seqüência de estudo e adaptativamente ajusta esta seqüência a medida que novos caminhos de sucesso forem encontrados.
Este sistema foi aplicado a um grupo de aprendizes do ensino técnico do nível médio na disciplina de linguagem de programação permitindo uma melhora de 10% no índice de aprovação.
Abstract
Distance learning systems have been receiving support to research because
they can provide flexibility for the student. There are many systems already
developed but with great opportunity to improved the way of tracking the student.
The main purpose of this research is to propose an intelligent tutor based on
artificial neural networks to reduce the number of students with low performance in
computer language learning. The system monitor the student during his study stage
and suggest the best path to be followed seeking for the best performance. The neural
network will be trained to monitor a predetermined sequence of study but adaptively
can adjust this sequence to the performance of the student. The system was applied to
a group of students in a technical college and the learning performance increased
in 10 % compared to another group without the assistance of the intelligent tutor.
