Resumo
Os animais apresentam quatro grandes glândulas salivares que realizam funções importantes no organismo, como a troca de calor, a solubilização do bolo alimentar, iniciar a digestão e outras. Alterações nessas glândulas e nos canais que transportam a saliva podem levar a formação do que conhecemos como mucocele salivar, alteração comum em cães porém nem tanto nos gatos. O tratamento dessa alteração é cirúrgico com excisão das glândulas afetadas. O presente estudo relata o caso do canino Bener, macho fertil, SRD (sem raça definida) de pelagem branca, que apresentou um aumento significativo na região cervical compatível com mucocele e o procedimento cirúrgico para retirada das glândulas foi realizado. A técnica cirúrgica utilizada se mostrou efetiva e até as últimas informações do animal não houve recidiva.
Abstract
Animals have four large salivary glands that perform important functions in the body, such as heat exchange, solubilization of the bolus, initiating digestion and others. Changes in these glands and in the channels that carry the saliva can lead to the formation of what we know as salivary mucocele, a common change in dogs, but not so much in cats. The treatment of this alteration is surgical, with excision of the affected glands. The present study reports the case of the canine Bener, a fertile male, SRD (no defined breed) of white coat, who presented a significant increase in the cervical region compatible with mucocele and the surgical procedure to remove the glands was performed. The surgical technique used proved to be effective and until the last information of the animal there was no recurrence.
