Abstract
In recent years, the electrical sector has had a high demand for alternative ways of generating
energy. The distributed generation has gained evidence during this search since it establishes
itself as a means for the consumer to reduce its electricity tariff. Despite an extensive repertoire
of possible sources, the distributed generation has stood out mainly in the field of photovoltaic
solar energy. The energy compensation system, made possible by Normative Resolution nº
482/2012 by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), together with the increase in the
electrical energy cost, provided an exponential growth in the number of micro and minidistributed generation systems connected to the network. This growth has led to concern in the
distribution sector, as the growing of such systems connected to the network without an
effective control could financially harm other consumers who do not have their own mini and
micro-generation system. ANEEL in 2018 proposed a review of the rules that regulate
distributed generation in Brazil, aiming to study the contributions of the interested industries to
the electricity sector. All of this will subsidize the edition of a new resolution that favor both
the consolidation of the photovoltaic market in Brazil, as well as avoiding financial losses for
distributors and other consumers. In this context, this study aims to review data on distributed
generation in Brazil with an emphasis on the solar photovoltaic sector, the one that has shown
the most significant numbers. In addition, it will analyze the studies from companies in this
sector that consider the negative impacts of the proposals presented so far by ANEEL regarding
the growth of distributed generation.
