The study is based on theoretical foundations about memory, heritage, and heritage education, articulating authors such as Pierre Nora, Jacques Le Goff, Jörn Rüsen, Paulo Freire, and Jorge Larrosa Bondía. It discusses inequality in access to culture in Brazil and the role of public schools as democratizing agents, highlighting the challenges faced by teachers in the face of bureaucracy, lack of institutional support, and educational policies that accentuate the duality between public and private education. Integral education is defended as a formative process that goes beyond the classroom, considering cultural heritage as a space of symbolic disputes and collective construction of meaning. As a pedagogical product, the Travessias da História: ideias para aulas-passeio guide was developed in a digital and interactive format, aimed at elementary school teachers. The guide gathers theoretical foundations, practical guidelines, and suggested itineraries, seeking to encourage the appreciation of cultural heritage, citizenship formation, and the construction of meaningful learning experiences. It is concluded that the insertion of educational practices in cultural spaces expands the possibilities of teaching the discipline, allowing students to relate past, present, and future in a critical and reflective way. The writing is based on research about the original peoples of the region known as Sertão da Farinha Podre, the Kaiapó ethnic group of the south, and the contributions of Afro-descendants to the formation of the working class of Uberlândia, as well as their cultural contributions. It is a study of local history, problematizing the perspective created by local elites on the formation of the city, which is based on records and chronicles of memoirists. The objective is to improve the teaching practices of history for 6th-grade students by researching the indigenous and Black contributions to the construction of Uberlândia, and to reduce existing gaps in the 6th-grade educational curriculum in order to deconstruct possible public omissions planned by conservative groups in the city. Alongside the research, the aim is to propose, as a final product, a didactic sequence that uses playful didactic activities related to the theme, such as the study of images, postcards, and photographs depicting the past and present, original artistic productions (drawings), and representations of children's imagination about the history of the city of Uberlândia and its tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The result of this dissertation and final product will be a didactic sequence that helps teachers work with their students on the history of the city from this new perspective. To this end, the following case study was adopted: the ongoing interest of the Brazilian far right in the São Paulo Forum (FSP) over the last decade - especially between 2016 and 2023, following the rise and popularization of leaders such as Olavo de Carvalho and Jair Bolsonaro and their respective followers. Under a “bolsolavista” scenario, opposition to this Latin American organization is identified based on three pillars: the production of books, posts on social media—especially tweets and threads on Twitter/X - and street demonstrations. A symbolic set that highlights, through the hypothesis of digital populism or cyberpopulism, the development of an authoritarian and anti-democratic power project. Fri, 24 Apr 2026 00:00:00 GMT https://repositorio.ufu.br/handle/123456789/48701 2026-04-24T00:00:00Z https://repositorio.ufu.br/handle/123456789/47933 Title: "As águas vão rolar": o Rio Uberabinha e a Estação de Tratamento de Água Renato de Freitas (ETA Sucupira) nas páginas do jornal Correio de Uberlândia (1967-1977) Abstract: This research aims to investigate how the process of urban advancement in relation to water supply was portrayed in the pages of the Correio de Uberlândia newspaper from 1967 to 1977, with an emphasis on the activities of the Municipal Water and Sewage Department (Departamento Municipal de Água e Esgoto - DMAE), created in 1967, and the construction of the Sucupira Water Treatment Plant (Estação de Tratamento de Água Renato de Freitas - ETA Sucupira), inaugurated in August 1970. Based on theoretical references from environmental history and discussions on the concepts of space and territory, associated with the analysis of nature in the capitalist mode of production, the approach seeks to interpret social dynamics through the discourse of technical rationality, which guides human intervention in the biophysical environment. We start from the hypothesis that Correio de Uberlândia, as a vehicle linked to the city’s ruling groups, contributed to incorporating a technical and political vocabulary about intervention in rivers, supporting the structuring of DMAE and ETA Sucupira as essential elements for urban management and economic growth in the city, wich sought to establish itself as the “metropolis of the Triângulo Mineiro” in the view of these groups, with water supply being a determining factor in sustaining this accelerated growth. Analysis of newspaper reports showed that ETA Sucupira was hailed as a major achievement and na act of boldness and local autonomy, promising pure and abundant water to supply the city beyond the year 2000. The newspaper described the Uberabinha River and the Sucupira Waterfall as na ideal site, transformed by hyman and technological intervention, contributing to giving new social content to these water territories. The ETA Sucupira and acess to water remained central themes in political and discursive disputes, highlighting how the instrumentalization of water resources was fundamental to Uberlândia’s progress and growth project.
