Title: Caracterização estrutural da zona de cisalhamento Douradinho na região entre Coromandel/MG e Abadia dos Dourados/MG
Abstract: This Bachelor's Thesis aimed to characterize the Douradinho Shear Zone, a regional deformation zone with a preferential NW–SE trend, located between the municipalities of Coromandel and Abadia dos Dourados, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The structure affects rocks of the Monte Carmelo Complex, Abadia dos Dourados Complex, and Araxá Group, constituting a structurally significant feature within the southern portion of the Brasília Belt. A multiscale approach was employed based on the integration of morphostructural, airborne geophysical, field geological, microstructural, and three-dimensional geological modeling data. The analysis of Digital Elevation Models (DEM), combined with the interpretation of gamma-ray spectrometric and magnetic data, revealed a strong NW–SE structural control over the relief and drainage network, evidenced by rectilinear channel segments and fluvial deflection anomalies. Geophysical products revealed radiometric and magnetic contrasts associated with the different geological units, indicating that the granitic bodies acted as relatively more competent domains during regional deformation, promoting strain partitioning along their margins. Three-dimensional geological modeling demonstrated the spatial continuity of these structures at depth and enabled the correlation between geophysical domains and surface observations. Petrographic and microstructural analyses identified intracrystalline deformation features and dynamic recrystallization in quartz, associated with the predominantly brittle behavior of feldspars, indicating deformation under low-grade greenschist facies metamorphic conditions. Furthermore, the observed mineral assemblage suggests that the structure acted as a conduit for the circulation of fluids. Although no diagnostic kinematic indicators were identified to unequivocally determine the sense of movement of the structure, the integration of the different datasets allowed the characterization of the spatial distribution of deformation and the role played by the Douradinho Shear Zone in the lithostructural arrangement of the local geological units. The results contribute to the understanding of the structural evolution of the southern portion of the Brasília Belt and provide a basis for future tectonic and geophysical investigations in the region.

Mapeamento geológico e petrografia do granito douradoquara, Douradoquara - MG

Title: Mapeamento geológico e petrografia do granito douradoquara, Douradoquara - MG
Abstract: In the surroundings of the municipality of Douradoquara (MG), located in the Triângulo
Mineiro region, Neoproterozoic metasedimentary and metamafic rocks of the Araxá Group
occur, as well as granitoids associated with the Monte Carmelo Complex. These lithologies are
inserted in the southern sector of the Brasília Fold Belt and are related to a syn-tectonic event
responsible for the intrusion of granitoids along regional foliations and shear zones developed
within the schists. The Douradoquara Granite is located west of the municipality of
Douradoquara, Minas Gerais, and was previously mapped by CODEMIG (Catalão Sheet –
SE.23-Y-A-I, 2017) at a 1:100,000 scale. The present study aimed to map this granitic body at
a 1:30,000 scale, seeking a higher level of detail, as well as the individualization and
characterization of its facies based on textural, compositional, and structural variations. The
applied methodology was divided into three stages. The pre-field stage consisted of
bibliographic review, satellite image analysis, interpretation and processing of aerogeophysical
image data, and interpretation of structural lineaments, allowing the preliminary delimitation
of zones with similar geomorphological and structural characteristics. The field stage involved
geological mapping of the outcropping lithotypes, distinguished based on textural,
mineralogical, and structural criteria, in addition to photographic documentation and sample
collection. Finally, the post-field stage comprised macroscopic and microscopic analyses of the
samples, enabling their classification and differentiation into facies, culminating in the
elaboration of a new geological map with redefined limits of the granitic body. The results
indicate that the area corresponding to the Douradoquara Granite unit is smaller than that
presented in the regional 1:100,000-scale mapping by CODEMIG, with a greater predominance
of metasedimentary and metamafic host rocks of the Araxá Group, mainly represented by
garnet-bearing quartz–muscovite–biotite schist and amphibolites occurring as lenses with a
NW–SE trend. The granitoids are foliated, with preferential orientation according to the
regional NW–SE trend. The essential mineralogy consists of quartz, microcline, oligoclase,
biotite, muscovite, and garnet, allowing the classification of the lithotypes as inequigranular
monzogranites to granodiorites. Based on differences in color and mineralogical composition,
the body was subdivided into two facies: inequigranular gray facies and inequigranular whitishgray
facies, with their main distinction related to the presence of primary muscovite in the
inequigranular whitish-gray facies. The presence of aluminous minerals, such as garnet and
primary muscovite, indicates that the Douradoquara Granite resulted from crustal melting,
characterizing it as a peraluminous S-type granite. The occurrence of quartz-feldspathic pockets
within the foliation of garnet-bearing quartz–biotite–muscovite schist and the magmatic
foliation with a regional NW–SE trend evidence its syn-tectonic emplacement, strongly
controlled by the structural framework of the host rocks, reflecting the exploitation of these
structures during intrusion, as well as the deformational processes active during the
Neoproterozoic evolution of the Brasília Fold Belt

Abstract: The generation of solid waste has become an increasingly complex and urgent issue.
Population growth, coupled with the intensification of economic activity, has increased waste
generation, often without the infrastructure required for its proper disposal. The presence of
waste in space is not limited to a technical management problem but reflects deeper fractures
in the relationship between society and nature, compromising environmental quality, the
aesthetics of the landscape, and the symbolic bond between individuals and place. In this
context, selective collection constitutes a central component of Integrated Solid Waste
Management, although its effectiveness cannot be explained solely by the existence of
infrastructure, regulations, or informational campaigns. In the municipality of Uberlândia,
Minas Gerais, despite the expansion of the service's territorial coverage, public adherence
remains limited, as evidenced by the continued disposal of recyclable waste through
conventional waste collection and sanitary landfilling. Based on this observation, the primary
objective of this doctoral thesis is to understand the factors that influence public adherence to
selective collection in the municipality of Uberlândia in 2024. The research demonstrates that
adherence to selective collection is not primarily the result of isolated individual decisions but
rather the expression of a person–environment relational system, in which spatial,
institutional, educational, and psychological dimensions shape pro-environmental behavior.
The methodological procedures included bibliographic, documentary, and field research,
using institutional data and statistical information. Thematic maps were produced based on
secondary data obtained from official sources using QGIS software, focusing on variables
such as service coverage, population density, and waste collection infrastructure. In addition,
intensive direct observations and exploratory semi-structured interviews were conducted
through a questionnaire with 34 participants selected for their representativeness in the
municipal selective collection process from a population of 166 workers involved in the
program. The findings reveal a mismatch between the available infrastructure and its effective
appropriation by citizens, indicating that low adherence to the service is not primarily
explained by a lack of knowledge or information. The strengthening of Environmental
Education, by incorporating psychological dimensions related to perception, values, beliefs,
norms, attitudes, cognition, and cognitive heuristics, proved to be decisive in shaping pro
environmental behavior, thereby promoting greater public adherence to selective collection.
Furthermore, factors associated with accessibility, visibility, environmental setting, and other
environmental attributes of the service infrastructure, when designed to account for the
environmental stimuli that shape individual behavior, also tend to increase the likelihood of
public adherence. Therefore, public adherence to selective collection depends on the
articulation between the structural conditions of space and the psychological processes
associated with person–environment interaction. Accordingly, increasing adherence to
selective collection requires strategies that integrate Environmental Education, the
reorganization of spatial and institutional contexts, and interventions grounded in the
principles of Environmental Psychology. By highlighting the centrality of the person
environment relationship in solid waste management, this thesis contributes to advancing
discussions on public policies and to building more consistent pathways toward the
transformation of mindset.
