Title: Memórias de um menino de engenho e educador matemático popular
Abstract: This academic memorial is required as a prerequisite for the promotion from the Class of Associate Professor IV to the of Class Full Professor in the Higher Education Teaching Career, in accordance with MEC Ordinance no. 982, dated October 3, 2013, which was regulated by Resolution no. 3/2017 of the Board of Directors of the Federal University of Uberlândia, dated June 9, 2017. In it, I present not only chronological excerpts related to my education and academic work, but also elements that allow the reader to understand the ways I have constituted – and continue to constitute – myself as a popular mathematics educator, as well as the political and ideological contexts that guide my practices and actions. Throughout the memorial, I present various data, facts, images, and proofs of actions that dialogue with each other, being chronologically linked throughout the process of building my professional constitution in Education and as an activist for social causes.

Title: A vida em seus fluxos identitários: notas discursivas e materialidade no centro e nas margens.
Abstract: Text prepared to be presented to the Faculty of Education of the Federal University of Uberlândia, in order to obtain the title of Full Professor, the highest level in the teaching career at higher education institutions in Brazil. As a general objective, in order to raise the conditions required for promotion to the position of Full Professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia, I intend to present and understand my life experiences, articulating them with the developments of national policies of a political, social, economic and educational nature as defining factors of the conditions of my existence. As specific objectives, I intend to: a) map Brazilian political, economic, social and educational events that occurred from 1967 to 2024; b) articulate the elements of these events in my personal and professional life experiences; and c) identify and highlight how the strands of the discourses of a political, economic, social and educational nature acted in the subjection and objectification of human existence in the neoliberal capitalist system, adopting my life experience as an example. What elements justify the national feeling that, regardless of who assumes political power, life remains the same? Where did this idea come from? What are the implications of this position in the construction of people's existence in different social contexts? What are the difficulties in breaking with this historical positioning so present in people's daily lives? The text presents aspects of Brazilian history with a focus on political, economic, social and educational issues in the center called “The state – a device of governance power” and on its margins, on the left, personal and educational history, “Institutions as devices of regularization (family and school)”, and on the right, professional life, “The constitution of homo oeconomicus – how to become an entrepreneur of oneself”. Making an analogy to a text, which has a written part and its margins, there are no writings, but that does not mean that there is no information, they just do not appear to give centrality to what is written. Here they are present and are as relevant as the center, because they intercommunicate, contaminate, and constitute each other.

Retalhos da memória: fios, tramas e os avessos de um docente - extensionista - pesquisador

Title: Retalhos da memória: fios, tramas e os avessos de um docente - extensionista - pesquisador
Abstract: This Memorial represents more than just a requirement for promotion from Associate
Professor IV to Full Professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU). It
expresses the paths taken in my professional and human journey, guided by the
practice of university extension. The purpose of this Memorial is to narrate, in light of
reflections on memory, my academic and professional trajectory, highlighting how I
have made myself present in places said to be not meant for me. The guiding thread
of this entire process lies in reliving my experiences, as they allow me to reconstruct
fragments of my history and weave the threads and patterns of the patches and
embroideries of my life. The narrative contained in this Memorial is not bound by the
commitment to tell a linear story, especially because <the most important part of
embroidery is the reverse side; it is there that I recognize myself.= The construction of
this narrative begins with an introduction guided by memory and is structured into three
parts: Part I 3 <Chimes of memory: reflections on paths in (re)construction here=, I
introduce myself as a subject-body of my recollections, and through them, I stitch and
restitch the threads of memories, highlighting how the changes in my life’s trajectory
occurred through my contact with education, culture, and ethno-racial issues. Part II 3
Where do the crossroads lead? 3 I recount fragments of my academic journey at the
UFU, emphasizing my experience as an extensionist and researcher. I highlight the
paths I have been able to take in teaching and research through my connection with
university extension. Part III 3 <The granary, the anvil, and the forge: occupying other
spaces in academic work= 3 I underscore the importance of experiences and life
trajectories in occupying other spaces in higher education management and how this
accumulated knowledge reshapes me as a subject-object of my academic daily life,
whether in the field of extension, research, or teaching. Finally, I weave the conclusions
of this Memorial, guided by the discussions carried out throughout the process,
highlighting reflections on the role of extension in promoting a more human-centered
education within the university context.

NÓS e os nós: mídia, tecnologia e ciência em redes em um memorial acadêmico

Title: NÓS e os nós: mídia, tecnologia e ciência em redes em um memorial acadêmico
Abstract: In this academic memorial, presented to the Faculty of Education of the Federal University of
Uberlandia, as a requirement to the promotion from the Associated Professor IV to the Titular
Professor Class of the Higher Education Teaching Career, I discourse about my trajectory as a
journalist and teacher, establishing the knots that involve people and products in the
construction of a net based on the tripod of Technology, Communication and Education. There
are more than 40 years in which I was involved with these themes, and that made the base for
the career that has now reached this stage. In this work, I highlight journalistic production, mine
and from students I have oriented, research and extension projects, details of my performance
in management, and other elements that were and continue to be important in my professional
and academic path. However, it has a conclusive character, as it takes to the highest level of the
federal university career, it gives spaces to new knots, because there are developing projects
and the possibility of future activities. We’ll continue to add knots to the nets that compound
this academic memorial. Now that I can say I really match this memorial in essence, I aim to
nurture it even more, though in different ways and formats.
