Abstract: Industrial maintenance management is a critical function for business competitiveness,&#xD;
especially in sectors with low operating margins such as the dairy industry. In the context&#xD;
studied, maintenance cost management presented fragmented information across multiple&#xD;
spreadsheets and a lack of standardized monitoring of team hour allocation, compromising&#xD;
budgetary predictability and managerial decision-making. The objective of this work is to&#xD;
propose the implementation of a Management Information System with a Decision Support&#xD;
function (DSS) for the management of Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) indicators by&#xD;
production cell, based on the SAP PM system, for controlling maintenance costs and hour&#xD;
allocation for maintenance personnel in a dairy industry. This is applied research with a&#xD;
predominantly qualitative approach to the problem, using quantitative data and analyses.&#xD;
Considering the objectives, the research is descriptive in nature, and, regarding methodological&#xD;
procedures, it is characterized as a case study, as it focuses on a single organization. The&#xD;
methodology was based on the four phases of SAD development proposed by Laudon and&#xD;
Laudon (2014) (Intelligence, Discovery, Selection, and Implementation), integrated with Lean&#xD;
Manufacturing principles for waste elimination. The results demonstrated significant gains: a&#xD;
91.7% reduction in cost data fragmentation, an increase from 43% to 71% of production cells&#xD;
within the budget target, and a 73.7% growth in the hours allocation indicator (38% to 66%),&#xD;
in addition to an annual gain of R$ 100,399.82 from previously unrecorded hours. The&#xD;
comparative analysis of November 2025 versus January 2026 showed a rebalancing in the&#xD;
budget allocation among cells, with particular emphasis on the reduction of cost concentration&#xD;
in Milk Powder from 47% to 37%. The Decision Support System (DSS) has become&#xD;
institutionalized in management routines, validating the effectiveness of accessible&#xD;
technological solutions when based on a structured methodology and aligned with the real needs&#xD;
of users.</description>

Abstract: This study focuses on a small-sized company in the timber industry headquartered in Barretos, São Paulo, Brazil, which operates in the purchase and sale of eucalyptus firewood used by industries as an energy source in boilers, as well as in the trade of logs supplied to regional sawmills. For several years, the company has faced a significant logistical challenge: the difficulty of finding and retaining outsourced truck drivers in the region, which limits delivery volumes and, consequently, reduces revenue. Currently, the company sells approximately 2,500 st (steres) of firewood per month but could expand this volume if it had its own fleet, reducing dependence on outsourced freight. To address this bottleneck, the acquisition of a company-owned truck is being evaluated. In this sense, the objective of this study is to evaluate the economic and financial feasibility of acquiring a truck for timber transport, based on real data from a company in the interior of São Paulo, using the Net Present Value (NPV), Profitability Index (PI), and Payback Period tools. Methodologically, this is an applied, quantitative study in which the fixed and variable costs of the operation were surveyed and the aforementioned investment analysis tools were applied in two scenarios, one optimistic and one pessimistic. The results showed that the monthly operating cost of the unit would be R$ 42,314.36 in the optimistic scenario and R$ 53,164.93 in the pessimistic one, both lower than the average monthly expense of approximately R$ 65,000.00 currently spent on freight per truck. The NPV was R$ 1,409,697.37 in the optimistic scenario and R$ 887,191.75 in the pessimistic one, indicating the feasibility of the investment. The Payback occurred in approximately 9 months in the optimistic scenario and 17 months in the pessimistic one, short periods compared to the 84-month horizon analyzed, while the PI was 2.37 and 1.86, respectively, demonstrating that each R$ 1.00 invested returns more than the amount applied. It is concluded that the acquisition of the truck is economically viable and that the use of managerial investment analysis tools is essential to transform an intuitive decision into a data-driven choice, contributing to the financial health, competitiveness, and sustainability of the business.</description>

Abstract: Driven by the need to reduce waste and increase operational efficiency, this study applies the Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) methodology to a powdered milk sachet packaging line in the food industry. The study aimed to identify opportunities for improvement in the format changeover process in order to reduce setup time and, consequently, planned downtime on the production line. To achieve this objective, an applied research approach was adopted, using a qualitative-quantitative methodology with exploratory and descriptive objectives and action research procedures.&#xD;
The methodology followed the stages of definition, measurement, analysis, and control, supported by improvement analysis and prioritization tools. Through the assessment and categorization of setup activities, opportunities related to operation standardization, process parameter review, and waste elimination were identified. Based on the analyses performed, an action plan was developed, and a simulation of the expected results was conducted, indicating the potential for setup time reduction, increased operational stability, and improved production line performance.&#xD;
The findings demonstrate that the SMED methodology is an effective tool for identifying and implementing improvements in format changeover processes.</description>
