The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of instrumental perineal massage on pain in women with GPPPD. This is a pilot clinical study including seven women over 18 years old with a history of vaginal penetration during sexual intercourse who met the diagnostic criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) and presented increased pelvic floor muscle tone on palpation. A total of 10 treatment sessions were performed twice a week for five weeks, including health education and instrumental perineal massage using the Peridell® massager. A round tip and a hook-shaped tip were used, with a duration of 25 minutes per session. Pain intensity reported by the participants at the beginning of penetration, during sexual intercourse, and after penetration was assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). For statistical analysis, a paired t-test was applied to compare variables before and after the intervention, adopting a significance level of 5%. After the intervention, a significant reduction in pain was observed at the beginning of penetration (p=0.04), during sexual intercourse (p=0.001), and after penetration (p=0.001). It can be concluded that physiotherapeutic intervention using instrumental perineal massage has a positive impact on reducing pain complaints in women with GPPPD.
