Manifestações patológicas em estruturas de concreto protendido

Title: Manifestações patológicas em estruturas de concreto protendido
Abstract: The present study addresses pathological manifestations in prestressed concrete structures, highlighting their technical relevance in view of the increasing use of this structural system in medium- and large-scale projects. Prestressed concrete is widely employed because it allows for reduced cross-sections, increased spans, and improved control of cracking. However, it presents high sensitivity to design, construction, and maintenance failures, particularly with regard to the integrity of prestressing tendons. The objective of this study is to analyze the main types of pathologies affecting prestressed structures, as well as the methods for their identification and the associated repair and maintenance strategies, aiming to contribute to the safety, durability, and performance of these structures. The adopted method is based on a bibliographic review of Brazilian technical standards, especially ABNT NBR 6118:2023 and ABNT NBR 14931:2023, in addition to scientific articles, dissertations, and recent case studies related to the subject. The main pathological mechanisms are discussed, such as sudden tendon rupture, loss of prestress, cracking, excessive displacements, and water infiltration, emphasizing their causes, consequences, and interrelationships. In addition, the study presents the main methods for identifying pathologies, highlighting non-destructive testing techniques such as ultrasonic testing, rebound hammer testing, electrical resistivity, thermography, and the RIMT test, demonstrating their importance in the early diagnosis of internal damage. As a result, it is observed that most pathologies in prestressed concrete structures are associated with deficiencies in technological control, exposure to aggressive environments, and the lack of systematic preventive maintenance. It is concluded that the adoption of integrated strategies for inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance, combined with strict compliance with technical standards and the involvement of qualified professionals, is essential to extend the service life of prestressed structures and ensure adequate levels of structural safety over time. Keywords: prestressed concrete; pathological manifestations; non-destructive testing; structural durability; structural maintenance.

Avaliação mercadológica do Campus Educação Física – UFU pelo método evolutivo: estudo de caso

Title: Avaliação mercadológica do Campus Educação Física – UFU pelo método evolutivo: estudo de caso
Abstract: Appraisal engineering is the technical field responsible for identifying, in an objective and well-founded manner, the value of assets and rights, especially real estate, based on recognized methods and verifiable data. In the real estate market, its application is essential for reducing uncertainty and supporting negotiations, financing, guarantees, insurance, leases, and feasibility studies. For public and private institutions, appraisal also plays a relevant role by supporting asset management, guiding investments, substantiating acquisition and disposal processes, and meeting demands related to control, planning, and transparency, thus making decisions more consistent and technically justifiable before the various stakeholders involved.
Within this context, the present study aims at the market appraisal of the Physical Education Campus, adopting the Evolutionary Method as the procedure for composing the property value. To determine the land value, the Direct Sales Comparison Approach is employed, with emphasis on data collection, selection, and treatment, as well as on data homogenization and the use of software for statistical analysis and validation of results. At the same time, the valuation of the improvements is carried out through the Cost Quantification Method, based on the built area, technical references such as the CUB, and the consideration of depreciation compatible with the apparent age and state of conservation. Finally, the integration of land value and improvement value allows the determination of the total property value, enabling a discussion of the reliability of the data used, the limitations of the study, and compliance with the applicable technical standards.

Avaliação da aderência entre camadas asfálticas por meio de ensaio de arrancamento em campo

Title: Avaliação da aderência entre camadas asfálticas por meio de ensaio de arrancamento em campo
Abstract: Interlayer adhesion in asphalt pavements is a fundamental requirement for the overlay to
perform monolithically, reducing the occurrence of premature distresses associated with
interfacial debonding, such as slippage and accelerated degradation. Tack coat, usually
performed with asphalt emulsion, is the primary bonding mechanism between layers; however,
its quality and effectiveness in the field can be affected by construction and environmental
variables, such as surface macrotexture, temperature, and the presence of fines. In this context,
in situ tests capable of quantifying adhesion have been studied as an alternative for
technological control, with emphasis on direct tension methods such as the pull-off test. This
study experimentally evaluated the adhesion between asphalt layers in two field experimental
sections, using different RR-1C emulsion application rates, and measuring strength through
pull-off tests with metal plates bonded by epoxy adhesive (Sikadur). Sixty tests were conducted,
distributed across strips per experimental section, allowing for a comparative analysis and
discussion of how results vary due to real-world conditions. The results indicated an absence
of a direct proportional trend between the emulsion rate and the obtained strength, suggesting
that adhesion depends on external variables, especially ambient and pavement temperatures, as
well as surface conditions. It is concluded that field pull-off testing is a promising tool for
adhesion diagnosis and control, but it requires a joint interpretation of the strength value and
the failure mode, as well as attention to the control of environmental and construction factors.
