Abstract: Objective: This study evaluated whether the combination of infrared &#xD;
photobiomodulation therapy (IR-PBMT) and enamel matrix derivative (EMD) &#xD;
enhances the repair of areas grafted with deproteinized bovine bone (DBB). &#xD;
Material and methods: Forty-eight rats were used. Surgery was performed &#xD;
bilaterally in the mandible, with both sides allocated to the same experimental &#xD;
group. The animals were evaluated at two experimental periods (30 and 90 days; &#xD;
n = 6). A dome shaped Teflon was placed in the mandibular ramus of each &#xD;
animal, bilaterally, and filled with DBB. The groups were divided according to the &#xD;
type of treatment applied to the grafted area: DBB: no adjunct treatment; EMD: &#xD;
DBB associated with EMD; IR-PBMT: DBB subjected to IR-PBMT; &#xD;
IRPBMT/EMD: DBB associated with EMD + IR-PBMT. The following analyses &#xD;
were performed: (1) micro-computed tomography, to evaluate the volume and &#xD;
microstructure of the grafted area, and (2) histomorphometry, to assess the &#xD;
composition of the repaired tissue. Results: The DBB and IR-PBMT/EMD groups &#xD;
showed greater mineralized tissue volume and smaller trabecular spacing &#xD;
compared to the other groups (p&lt;0.05). The DBB group showed a smaller &#xD;
amount of bone than all other groups at 30 days (p&lt;0.05). The IR-PBMT/EMD &#xD;
group showed a greater amount of bone than the other groups at 90 days &#xD;
(p&lt;0.05). Conclusion: The combined treatment with IRPBMT and EMD enhances &#xD;
repair in areas grafted with DBB.</description>

Abstract: The incorporation of digital educational technologies in the health field has &#xD;
expanded the possibilities for health promotion, health education, and &#xD;
strengthening self-care. In this context, oral health education aimed at adults and &#xD;
older adults requires innovative, accessible strategies that are aligned with the &#xD;
needs of this population. This study aimed to develop an interactive website for &#xD;
oral health education directed at adult and older adult users of public health &#xD;
services. The dissertation was structured into three chapters. The first chapter &#xD;
consisted of a scoping review designed to map the scientific evidence on the &#xD;
applicability of digital technologies for oral health education among adults and &#xD;
older adults. The research question was developed based on the PCC framework &#xD;
(Population, Concept, and Context), in which the Population (P) referred to adults &#xD;
and older adults, the Concept (C) to educational technologies in health, and the &#xD;
Context (C) to oral health education. Thus, the following question was proposed: &#xD;
“What is the applicability of educational health technologies available for oral &#xD;
health education among adults and older adults?” The search and selection of &#xD;
studies took place between October 2025 and May 2026. Ten studies were &#xD;
included. The most frequently addressed topic in the articles was oral hygiene, &#xD;
and the most common strategy was the use of digital educational videos. The &#xD;
main outcomes showed increased knowledge, improved self-efficacy and self&#xD;
care, positive behavioral changes, and reductions in clinical indicators, such as &#xD;
dental plaque and tongue coating. The second chapter presented the &#xD;
development of the @ViverSorrindo website for oral health education aimed at &#xD;
adults and older adults. The platform integrated different educational resources, &#xD;
including videos, illustrative images, texts with audio narration, quizzes, &#xD;
simulation scenarios, and a myths-and-truths game, presented in an accessible &#xD;
format adapted to the needs of adults and older adults. The third chapter &#xD;
corresponded to the development of an informational folder for the use of the &#xD;
@ViverSorrindo website. The material was designed to facilitate users’ access to &#xD;
and navigation through the platform, expanding its potential use in health services &#xD;
and educational activities. Thus, the studies included in the scoping review &#xD;
showed that oral hygiene was the most prevalent topic, and digital educational &#xD;
videos were the most frequently addressed strategy. Based on these findings, &#xD;
the @ViverSorrindo website represents a practical, free, and accessible digital &#xD;
educational technology with the potential to support health promotion and oral &#xD;
health education actions aimed at the adult and older adult population. This tool &#xD;
may favor access to information and communication between users and health &#xD;
professionals, constituting a possible complementary strategy for comprehensive &#xD;
care and healthy aging.</description>

Abstract: This in vitro comparative study aimed to provide an integrated evaluation of 15 intraoral scanners (IOSs), correlating their performance in implant-supported prostheses with operational feasibility and cost-performance to support decision-making in digital implant dentistry. A partially edentulous mandibular model was prepared with two Helix GM implants and scanned using a laboratory scanner inEos X5 as the reference standard and 15 IOSs (Primescan, Omnicam, Virtuo Vivo, Sirios, Sirios x3, Medit i600, Medit i900, Trios 3, Trios 5, Aoralscan 3, CS 3600, CS3800W, iTero Element 5D, iTero Lumina and Eagle Scan) (n=10). Trueness was evaluated by 3D mesh superimposition over the reference model. Usability was evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS) and cost-performance was analyzed based on cos and technical characteristics. Accuracy data was statistically analyzed with Kruskal-Wallis and post-hoc tests (α=0.05). Significant differences in accuracy were observed among IOSs (p&lt;0.001). All IOSs showed clinically acceptable performance except iTero Element (101µm [22.3-188µm]) and Virtuo Vivo (92.9 µm [56.8-152 µm]). Trios 5 showed the lowest deviation and interquartile range (32.5µm [30.5–38.4µm]), while Sirios x3 exhibited significant statistically difference among several IOSs. The mean SUS score was 90 (±12). Cost-performance analysis revealed variability among IOSs, with no clear proportional relationship between cost, IOS type, and performance. Despite differences in performance during scanbody acquisition, most IOSs demonstrated clinically acceptable accuracy for implant-supported prostheses, with Trios 5 showing the lowest median RMS value. These findings highlight that IOS selection should be based on an integrated assessment of performance, usability, and cost-performance.</description>

Abstract: The ideal splint rigidity for horizontal root fractures remains controversial. While insufficient stabilization may impair healing, excessive rigidity may restrict physiological tooth displacement and can also compromise the periodontal ligament healing. This study evaluated the influence of splint rigidity and fracture location on tooth displacement and stress distribution in horizontal root fractures. A three-dimensional-printed polymer maxillary model was generated from cone-beam computed tomography data. Horizontal cervical, middle, and apical central incisor root fractures, along with adjacent intact central incisors serving as controls, were three-dimensional-printed in resin composite. Three wire–resin composite splinting systems with different rigidity levels were evaluated: flexible (1.0-mm nylon), semi-rigid (0.6-mm steel wire), and rigid (0.9-mm steel wire). Non-splinted fractured teeth were used as negative controls. Coronal tooth displacement (m) was measured using a deflectometer (Instron) at baseline and after 50 cycles of cyclic loading at 1 Hz with a force range of 25–50 N. Three-dimensional finite element models were developed from the same cone-beam computed tomography data set. A nonlinear biting force analysis was performed to evaluate tooth displacement and stress distribution. Experimentally measured tooth displacements were analyzed using two-way analysis of variance, followed by Tukey’s post hoc test (α = 0.05). Stress distribution was assessed qualitatively using modified von Mises stress (MPa). Coronal tooth displacement in non-splinted teeth increased significantly from apical to cervical root fractures (P &lt; 0.01) and from the initial to final cyclic loading (P &lt; 0.01). All splint types significantly reduced coronal tooth displacement (P &lt; 0.01) and stress concentration at the fracture line. Stress concentration at the fracture line was higher in cervical fractures and non-splinted teeth. The 0.9-mm steel wire splint resulted in significantly lower displacement than that observed in intact teeth. Cyclic loading had no significant effect on tooth displacement in splinted fractured teeth (P &gt; 0.01). Splinting stabilized adequately the root fractures regardless of fracture level. Flexible and semi-rigid splints provided required stabilization allowing functional tooth displacement similar to intact teeth.</description>
