Abstract: Municipal environmental inspectors face challenges related to precarious employment contracts, insufficient technical training, limited infrastructure, and exposure to multiple occupational risks. The objective of this research is to understand the historical trajectory, specific labor characteristics, occupational health weaknesses, and strategies for improving the working conditions of environmental inspectors. The methodology of this study is divided into two parts. The first refers to a documentary and bibliographical article that sought to describe the duties and challenges of environmental inspectors and allowed us to infer that these workers perform technical-operational functions of monitoring, control, and guidance that articulate sanctioning and educational dimensions of legislation, but their work remains surrounded by weaknesses such as precarious employment contracts, insufficient training, and lack of infrastructure. The second part was the elaboration of a book, which sought to articulate the researcher's professional experience with academic training and available scientific knowledge on the subject. The work is composed of four chapters that contextualize the theme in the area of Occupational Health, the environmental inspection sector, discuss the weaknesses, and present strategies. The book makes it clear that investing in the health of environmental inspectors is not limited to reducing individual health problems, but is part of a broader agenda of improving public management, valuing their work, and ensuring the sustainability of environmental policies. Both products highlight gaps in the occupational health of environmental inspectors and the need for future research to support prevention strategies, risk management, and the improvement of institutional policies aimed at protecting and improving the quality of life of these workers.</description>

Abstract: Intestinal parasitic infections represent a major public health challenge in Brazil and are classified as neglected diseases. Within the context of Municipal Early Childhood Education Schools (EMEIs) in Uberlândia (MG), the continuous interaction between staff and children creates a critical scenario for the transmission of these pathogens. This study aimed to assess the level of knowledge and self-care/hygiene practices adopted by basic education workers, as well as to identify their exposure to intestinal parasites. The methodology involved the application of a semi-structured questionnaire to collect socioeconomic data, perceptions of working conditions, and knowledge regarding prophylaxis and transmission. Additionally, a spontaneous fecal parasitological examination (FPE) was conducted among employees working directly with children. The findings indicate that while workers possess a reasonable understanding of the subject, persistent knowledge gaps remain that may increase occupational risk. Parasitological examinations revealed that 30% of participants tested positive for some evolutionary form of protozoa, with 15% specifically identified as Entamoeba coli cysts. It is concluded that there is a pressing need for the implementation of permanent health education initiatives and improvements in sanitation and school infrastructure to mitigate parasitic dissemination within the educational environment.</description>

Abstract: This research is a dissertation-equivalent work, presented in the form of two scientific articles.&#xD;
The thematic delimitation involves the Quality of Life at Work (QWL) of public servants at a&#xD;
Federal University. Quality of Life at Work is fundamental to the organizational environment,&#xD;
as it influences the behavior of workers both internally and in their lives outside the&#xD;
organization. The objective of this research was to investigate the Quality of Life at Work in&#xD;
the public service, based on scientific evidence and the perception of employees of the Pro-&#xD;
Rectorate of Undergraduate Studies of a Federal University located in the state of Minas Gerais.&#xD;
Scientific evidence was gathered through searches in databases and the analysis of 12 scientific&#xD;
articles published between 2020 and 2025, using thematic content analysis. This analysis&#xD;
revealed that precarious infrastructure, work overload, career stagnation, low professional&#xD;
recognition, and authoritarian management practices negatively impact QWL, contributing to&#xD;
psychological distress, illness, and absenteeism. Conversely, ergonomic interventions,&#xD;
integrative practices, cultural activities, and the planned implementation of telework stood out&#xD;
as promising strategies for promoting health. Empirical research, conducted with 71 employees&#xD;
of the Pro-Rectorate of Undergraduate Studies at a Federal University located in the Triângulo&#xD;
Mineiro region, used open-ended questions and the Total Qualify of Work Life (TQL). Data&#xD;
triangulation revealed discrepancies between quantitative results and the workers' daily&#xD;
experiences, marked by frequent reports of physical and psychological strain, difficulties in&#xD;
balancing professional demands and personal life, infrastructure limitations, obstacles in work&#xD;
organization, and weaknesses in interpersonal relationships. When adopted, telework was&#xD;
perceived as a favorable alternative for improving the quality of life at work. Therefore, the&#xD;
articulation between the results of the integrative review and the data obtained in the empirical&#xD;
investigation allowed for a more comprehensive understanding of the elements that influence&#xD;
the perception of quality of life at work in the analyzed context, highlighting the presence of&#xD;
structural factors, as well as relational and subjective dimensions linked to the work experience&#xD;
in the public sector.</description>

Abstract: This dissertation aims to analyse popular participation in Brazilian urban planning based on the academic production of master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, seeking to identify to which participatory processes have effectively contributed to social empowerment and the democratization of urban governance more than two decades after the enactment of the City Statute. The investigation is grounded in a critical perspective on urban planning, anchored in the debate on the right to the city, the social function of property, and democratic Governance, understanding popular participation as a political practice situated in contexts marked by power disputes and structural inequalities.&#xD;
The theoretical and methodological framework of the research is based on content analysis as proposed by Bardin, adopting a qualitative and interpretative approach aimed identifying meanings, patterns, and contradictions in academic discourses. The research corpus of theses and dissertations developed across different fields of knowledge and territorial contexts, enabling a comparative and relational reading of the scientific production on popular participation in urban planning in Brazil. The study articulates thematic, categorical, and co-occurrence analysis, techniques, allowing the identification of key meaning clusters, forms of institutionalization of participation, and differentiated levels of society influence on urban decision-making processes. &#xD;
The findings indicate that although popular participation is widely recognized as a central normative principle of Brazilian urban planning, its effectiveness remains limited in most cases. Participatory processes are predominantly formal and consultative, often used to legitimize previously defined decisions, with a reduced capacity to redistribute decision-making power. At the same time, academic production highlights relevant indirect effects, such as the strengthening of citizenship, the expansion of political awareness, and the formation of social mobilization networks, suggesting that popular participation also functions as an educational and formative practice. &#xD;
It is concluded that popular participation in urban planning holds transformative potential but faces constraints associated with institutional fragility, the capture of participatory processes by economic interests, and social exclusion within deliberative spaces. The research reinforces the need to understand the democratization of urban governance as a process, whose effectiveness depends both on institutional structures and on the capacity of civil society for organization, mobilization and political formation.</description>
