Qualidade de vida de médicos e médicas UTI - Adulto, Uberlândia - Minas Gerais

Title: Qualidade de vida de médicos e médicas UTI - Adulto, Uberlândia - Minas Gerais
Abstract: The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Quality of Life (QoL) as “[...] a person’s perception of their position in life in the context of the cultural and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations and concerns.” Intensive care physicians are specialists in the intensive care of critically ill patients and are involved in all aspects of this care. This research is a cross-sectional observational study that evaluated the QoL of 44 physicians working in a public adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Minas Gerais through quantitative research. The main objective of the research is to evaluate the QoL of physicians and also to outline their sociodemographic profile. Two questionnaires were used – the first assessed the independent variables of interest to the study: gender, age, marital status, specialty, years since graduation, workload, and number of employment relationships (Appendix A), and the second questionnaire used was the WHOQOL-bref (Attachment B). The participants were mostly men, cisgender (56.1%), with a mean age of 42.8 ± 8.46 years, white (68.3%), heterosexual (92.8%), married or in a stable relationship (70.7%) and belonging to economic class A (60.9%). The first article analyzed the differences or correlations in QoL based on the individual characteristics of intensive care physicians. It was shown that cisgender men tend to have higher scores than cisgender women for the physical, psychological, environmental, and general domains. Divorced/separated individuals scored lower than single and married/cohabiting individuals for all domains, and single individuals scored lower than married individuals. This highlights the complexity of the factors affecting the QoL of intensive care physicians in a public service, particularly the differences in gender and marital status, and the strong influence of socioeconomic status. The second article analyzed the differences or correlations between QoL and work characteristics of the studied population and found no strong correlations between specialty, location and number of employment contracts, length of training, weekly workload, and QoL of these professionals. It was thus shown that QoL can be maintained without changes depending on each individual's perspective. It is concluded that the results of this research may be useful in evaluating the QoL of healthcare professionals and in the search for factors that promote a better QoL not only for physicians working in ICUs but also for other healthcare professionals.

Title: Percepções sobre as lideranças imediatas e o processo de trabalho: um estudo sob as lentes de Agentes Comunitários de Saúde
Abstract: The professional practice of Community Health Agents is a central element in the organization of Primary Health Care. The work in the territory and the bond established with the community involves organizational, institutional and social requirements that have repercussions on the working conditions and health of these workers. This study aimed to understand the perception of Community Health Agents in relation to the influence of people management in their daily work process, and the specific objectives, to systematize how the scientific literature addresses the experiences and repercussions of the work process of Community Health Agents, to present the sociodemographic and labor profile of Community Health Agents in a municipality in the Triângulo Mineiro, relate aspects of people management to the impacts of interpersonal relationships, describe strategies related to Workers' Health to optimize the work processes of the CHAs. The materials and methods of this research occurred in two stages. Initially, an integrative literature review was carried out to understand the experiences of the work process of these professionals and their repercussions on occupational health, considering organizational, territorial and work management aspects. In the second stage, a descriptive-exploratory mixed-methods study was carried out with 151 Community Health Agents from a municipality in the Triângulo Mineiro region of Minas Gerais, using a structured questionnaire with objective and discursive questions. Quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and qualitative data by thematic content analysis. The literature shows a predominance of qualitative studies (88.9%) focusing on dimensions such as work organization, territory and mental health, which is empirically confirmed by showing a mostly female professional profile, with a mean age of 41.6 years and the presence of sick leave in 20.6% of the participants. The qualitative analysis of the field revealed three central categories: professional identity and management perception, relational dynamics and territory, and strategies and workers' health, which demonstrate the centrality of the community bond, the overlap between personal life and work, and the insufficiency of institutional support. Together, the findings of the review and the empirical research indicate that the organization of work and management practices directly influence the psychic suffering, quality of life and permanence of these workers in the health system. It is concluded that the organization of work and management practices are central elements in determining the health of Community Health Agents, and it is necessary to strengthen institutional strategies based on qualified listening, dialogue, cooperation and professional recognition. It is also emphasized the need to expand scientific production on the experiences of these workers, in order to subsidize actions aimed at professional valorization, improvement of working conditions and prevention of illness.

Title: Saúde ambiental no assentamento Fazenda Nova Tangará, município de Uberlândia – MG: entre a educação ambiental e os desafios estruturais sobre a temática do lixo
Abstract: Introduction: This study refers to a master’s dissertation project whose theme is the disposal of domestic solid waste in the Fazenda Nova Tangará Settlement, in the municipality of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, reflecting on environmental education and the structural challenges of rural areas. It identifies the different forms of disposal given to domestic solid waste generated by families, seeking to understand the factors that lead to the observed practices. Objective: To understand the perceptions of the rural population of the settlement regarding environmental issues related to the disposal of domestic solid waste. Methodology: A structured and semi-structured questionnaire was used as the research instrument, delivered personally to each resident. The study adopted a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach, aiming to deepen the understanding of the topic, as well as incorporating an ethnographic perspective. The qualitative data provided a more in-depth and contextualized understanding of the phenomena studied. Results and Discussion: The results reinforce the need for waste management policies in rural areas to be accompanied by continuous environmental education programs that promote community engagement and dialogue among residents, local leaders, and public authorities. Conclusion: The findings from the interviews and theoretical reflections reveal a complex picture of the relationships between territory, health, environmental education, and public policies in the rural context. Beyond identifying disposal practices or structural gaps, this study made it possible to understand how waste is embedded in the daily lives of the residents of the Fazenda Nova Tangará Settlement as an environmental, sanitary, and social issue, as well as an expression of historical conditions of vulnerability and the absence of sustained public policies. It is concluded that solid waste management in rural areas requires an integrated approach, social sensitivity, and political commitment. Public policies provide important guidelines, but their effectiveness depends on the presence of the State, community organization, and the critical awareness of individuals.

A dupla jornada de trabalho e a saúde de trabalhadores da enfermagem: um estudo em Uberlândia-MG

Title: A dupla jornada de trabalho e a saúde de trabalhadores da enfermagem: um estudo em Uberlândia-MG
Abstract: The work pace of nursing professionals is intense and surrounded by factors, such as low salaries, that lead them to work double shifts, impacting their occupational health. In this sense, the objective of this research is to analyze the health conditions of these workers. Thus, this research is prospective, with a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative) and descriptive-exploratory, divided into two parts. The first was an integrative literature review and the second a field study, conducted with nursing professionals who have experienced double shifts. The results of the two procedures converged, showing that remuneration is a determining factor in performing double shifts. Furthermore, double shifts constitute a multifaceted occupational risk factor, which combines physical exertion, mental exhaustion, and precarious working conditions. Therefore, it is fundamental that managers define and encourage practices to support physical and mental health, and promote professional development that considers remuneration, career, and working conditions, integrating worker health surveillance as a permanent axis of health institutions.
