Title: Uma trajetória de encontros com a Geografia: reflexões sobre o tempo, as práticas e as experiências de docência e pesquisa
Abstract: After reaching the required period established by the Federal Teaching Career and Position Plan (particularly Law No. 12,722 of December 28, 2012/ Brazil), as well as fulfilling the requirements defined by the internal regulations of the Federal University of Uberlândia/Brazil (Resolution No. 03/2017-CONDIR/UFU – Faculty Promotion and Progression), for accession to the rank of Full Professor in the Federal Higher Education system, this Memorial presents my professional trajectory as a tenured faculty member in the current Institute of Geography, Geosciences and Public Health at UFU, Uberlândia Campus. It covers a little more than 17 years of academic activity (2008–2025), in addition to highlighting previous situations and elements that, in different ways, shaped the decisions and paths taken throughout my career. These aspects have profoundly influenced (and continue to influence) my practices, academic stances, and experiences related to my training in Geography, as well as my teaching pratices, research, extension, and intellectual production during this period.

Abstract: The descriptive memorial aims to comply with Resolutions No. 3/2017 and SEI No. 05/2018 of the Board of Directors of the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), which regulate the evaluation for promotion to Class E, with the title of Full Professor of the Federal Higher Education Career. The facts reported are partially accompanied by supporting documents and those that are not in the body of this memorial are in the memorial drive at the link https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1eGohhtkD0-
xS5OMBP8MHnVxQtiRUbWKb, and those that are not accompanied by supporting documents are only part of the memory of those involved and were not, partially or fully, reported in this memorial. Iunderstand that this memorial presents a path, a journey and that becoming a full professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia is another stage of this journey, and thus, this memorial is composed of important parts of my life, but only some parts. The whole is impossible, because the whole cannot always be formed by the combination of the parts. Born and raised in the small town of Estrela do Sul/MG, I always studied in public schools. From elementary school at Escola Monsenhor Horta to elementary and high school at Escola Estadual Robert Kennedy, to my undergraduate degree in Geography at Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, and then my master's and doctorate at the same UFU, I always studied in public institutions. As you can see, life is more complex and full of nuances and details than just work. However, this work did not begin with the activity of an educator or teacher; it is, first and foremost, an amalgam of facts and situations that intertwine and give meaning to existence. Before teaching, I was an employee at Banco do Brasil (an apprentice) for over two years, a bar attendant, and a temporary worker in various roles. In my case, my educational work did not begin as a teacher at the Institute of Geography, Geosciences and Public Health (IGESC/UFU), but in the private sector in 1989 when I joined the National College and at the same time and year I was an accomplice in the construction of a school called PRÁXIS. In 1991 and 1992 I worked between PRÁXIS and the Anglo and Universitário Colleges. In 1994 I was hired as a substitute teacher at the former Federal Agricultural School of Uberlândia (Agricultural College, today IFTM/Uberlândia) and in 1995 I joined the Geography Department of UFU as a substitute teacher. In 1996, I passed the public examination to become a full-
time professor at the Federal Agricultural School of Uberlândia and in 1997 I resigned from my position to pursue a master's degree in Geography at USP and returned as a professor at the Colégio Nacional (Uberlândia, Araguari, Ribeirão Preto), where I remained until November 2008, when I passed the public examination for the Federal University of Ceará (Geography Department/Pici Campus/Fortaleza). I remained at this institution until the end of February 2009, when I passed the public examination to become a Geography professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia, located at the Ituiutaba campus, where I remained until February 2010, when I passed the public examination and took up my position at the Institute of Geography/UFU (Santa Mônica campus), a place and institution where I hope to remain until I retire one day.
