A matemática do antigo Egito

Title: A matemática do antigo Egito
Abstract: This study analyzes the mathematics of Ancient Egypt, developed approximately between 3000 and 300 BC, emphasizing its numerical foundations, operational methods, and practical applications within its historical context. The Egyptian decimal and non-positional number system is examined, focusing on the use of hieroglyphic and later hieratic symbols employed to record quantities and solve administrative, economic, agricultural, and architectural problems. The main mathematical operations practiced by Egyptian scribes—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—are discussed, with particular emphasis on the predominant use of unit fractions, a distinctive feature of Egyptian arithmetic. The method of false position is also analyzed as a procedure for solving problems involving unknown quantities, revealing an efficient proportional reasoning despite the absence of formal algebraic notation. The study demonstrates that, although different from modern mathematical approaches, Egyptian methods exhibited a high degree of sophistication and were well suited to the practical demands of their time. Furthermore, the central role of mathematics in the development of agriculture, state administration, and monumental constructions is highlighted. Finally, the study discusses the pedagogical potential of Ancient Egyptian mathematics as a teaching resource in contemporary mathematics education, contributing to an understanding of mathematics as a historical, dynamic body of knowledge constructed by different civilizations throughout human history.

Programação linear: o problema de alocação de carga didática

Title: Programação linear: o problema de alocação de carga didática
Abstract: In order to solve the problem of teaching assignment for the Statistics course 2025/1 semester at the Federal University of Uberlândia, this work proposed the use of Integer Linear Programming with the Branch-and-Bound Method to model the problem. The implementation was carried out in Google Colaboratory, through a Python application using the Pyomo library and the CBC solver. The model developed aimed to maximize the satisfaction function of the teaching hours allocation, considering two different weighting schemes: one based on hyperbolic decay and the other on exponential decay. With the application of the two recommended cases, it is important to choose the appropriate function to maximize the satisfaction of the teaching hours allocation to teachers.

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the papers presented at the last two editions of the National
Meeting on Mathematics Education (ENEM) that addressed the use of GeoGebra in the
teaching and learning of Mathematics. Through a bibliographic mapping of a qualitative
nature, the focus was on the papers presented at the 2019 (XIII ENEM) and 2022 (XIV
ENEM) editions that used GeoGebra as an educational tool. The study analyzed a total of 112
papers, with 70 from the XIII ENEM and 42 from the XIV ENEM. The methodology
involved collecting data from the event‟s proceedings, based on the descriptor “GeoGebra” in
the titles or abstracts of the articles. The results indicate that the use of GeoGebra has
significantly contributed to the modernization of teaching, student motivation, and improved
understanding of mathematical content. The software has made it easier to visualize and
explore abstract concepts, promoting more dynamic and collaborative pedagogical practices.
However, challenges such as lack of adequate infrastructure and insufficient teacher training
still limit the effective implementation of GeoGebra in schools. This study highlights the
importance of public policies that promote the integration of Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT) into the educational process. It also emphasizes the need for teacher
training and investment in technical resources in schools to maximize the benefits of this
educational tool.

Title: Memórias da escola rural paz e amor do distrito do bálsamo em Tupaciguara – Minas Gerais
Abstract: This paper aims is an elaboration of a narrative about the creation and the experience of the rural school Paz e Amor, located in the district of Balsamo in Tupaciguara, Minas Gerais. Mobilizing the methodology of Oral History in Mathematics Education. Thus, in addition to oral sources, other sources were used, such as written and iconographic. Through this historiographical work, elements were raised that contribute to understandings about the training of teachers who teach mathematics in rural schools during the period under study, thus contributing to decision-making for the creation of courses in the initial training of mathematics teachers for act in this teaching environment.
