Abstract: This research analyzes political gender-based violence against two female politicians, Joice Hasselmann and Manuela D'Ávila, examining its expression within the context of a techno-mediatized public sphere. The study was conducted using documentary analysis on a corpus comprising accounts, interviews, news reports, memes, town halls/debates, and other materials. The objective of the study is to analyze how the political violence directed at them unfolded through the production of images and narratives disseminated across various media platforms. Grounded in frame theory, originally formulated by Erving Goffman (1974) and updated for the digital media domain, the research investigates the construction of these public figures' images by different audiences and political groups, considering the exploitation of the digital environment for personal attacks and mass communication. The research demonstrates that a variety of frames were employed to delegitimize their political actions: the frame of political innocence, which infantilizes them and reduces them to secondary accessories; the aesthetic frame, which privileges physical attributes over their significant electoral performances and technical competence; the frame of dehumanization, operated through animal comparisons and ridiculing; the conflictual frame, which pathologizes their leadership as a source of intrigue; and the personal life frame, which instrumentalizes moral and intimate scrutiny to shift focus away from policy-driven debate. It concludes that, despite belonging to opposite ideological spectrums, both politicians suffered symmetrical processes of gender-based violence, revealing how the techno-mediatized sphere acts to corrode public image, sabotage reputations, and induce the withdrawal of women from spaces of power, ultimately posing a serious threat to democratic institutions.

A rede do parto Baré no alto Rio Negro: agência compósita entre humanos e não humanos

Title: A rede do parto Baré no alto Rio Negro: agência compósita entre humanos e não humanos
Abstract: This study analyzes the practices and knowledge of Baré midwives in the Alto Rio Negro region, emphasizing their central role in the reproductive health of Indigenous communities. Based on an ethnographic approach, the research combines qualitative data obtained through interviews and field observations. The study engages with concepts from the anthropology of the body and personhood, exploring the manual techniques used by midwives and their connection to Indigenous cosmologies and ways of life.
The findings reveal the political invisibility of Indigenous midwives within the humanized childbirth movement, despite their techniques often serving as inspiration for its practices. While this movement critiques obstetric violence and advocates for women’s empowerment in childbirth, it has yet to fully address the broader dimensions of obstetric violence in Indigenous contexts. In these cases, violence extends beyond the medicalization of birth to include the disregard for postpartum practices, placenta burial rituals, and other cosmological and cultural aspects that are essential to Indigenous birthing traditions.
The study emphasizes that strengthening traditional practices should not be limited to the individual recognition of midwives. It is necessary to support the entire sociotechnical network that sustains these practices, including families, Indigenous leaders, shamans, medicinal plants, and spiritual entities. Baré midwives act as cultural and political agents, and their knowledge is deeply interconnected with a broader network that ensures the continuity and relevance of Indigenous birthing traditions.
Finally, this research contributes to the development of more inclusive public policies and the recognition of traditional practices as intangible cultural heritage. The initial study on Baré midwives serves as a foundation for future research encompassing other ethnic groups in the region, such as the Baniwa and Tukano. By fostering a heritage recognition process that values not only the techniques and knowledge of midwives but also the complex sociotechnical network that supports them, this work seeks to promote the preservation, continuity, and empowerment of these practices in contemporary contexts

Abstract: This study investigates two digital groups formed by women ride-hailing drivers in the city of
Uberlândia, Brazil: As Motoras and Pitstop Penélopes. The research is grounded in the author's
autoethnographic experience, having worked as a ride-hailing driver for more than six years.
The study sought to identify the main themes, conflicts, and strategies shared by participants
in each group in order to understand the specific forms of subordination and control shaping
these women's work. The discussions examined issues related to working hours, earnings,
discrimination, relationships with passengers and fellow drivers, as well as the drivers’
perceptions of work, gender, politics, and their labor relationship with Uber. This is a
qualitative study based on the researcher’s autoethnography as a driver and netnography as a
participant in both digital groups. The findings reveal the predominance of a form of restricted
solidarity, strongly influenced by discourses of empowerment and entrepreneurship. They also
highlight a tension between empowerment and precarization, in which women drivers
experience a contradictory condition: they simultaneously encounter a degree of relative
autonomy and structural subordination, developing everyday forms of resistance without
fundamentally challenging the exploitative logic of platform-based labor.

O sindicalismo médico durante a pandemia de COVID-19: alinhamento e resistência ao governo Bolsonaro

Title: O sindicalismo médico durante a pandemia de COVID-19: alinhamento e resistência ao governo Bolsonaro
Abstract: The research analyzes the positioning of Brazilian doctor’s unions during the Covid-19
pandemic. The performance and guidelines of ten medical unions, two per geographical region,
were analyzed in view of the health policies implemented by the Bolsonaro government. This
was documentary research. The unions do not have a univocal or homogeneous position. The
positioning varies between alignment, resistance and ambiguity. The ideological political
orientation is an explanatory variable because, the unions affiliated to the central offices that
occupy a position on the left in the Brazilian ideological trade union spectrum have tended to
take a critical stance to the health policies of the Bolsonaro government and are active in
defending their representatives.
