Abstract: Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition that impairs motor development and frequently causes gait abnormalities, reduced gross motor function, and decreased functional capacity in affected children. Given the variety of therapeutic strategies currently available, this study aimed to investigate the effects of different gait training approaches on gross motor function and endurance in children with cerebral palsy through the analysis of the main scientific evidence available. This study is a literature review conducted using the Scientific Electronic Library Online, Cochrane Library, PubMed, and Physiotherapy Evidence Database databases. Studies published between 2021 and 2026 with a Physiotherapy Evidence Database score of six or higher that investigated gait training interventions in children with cerebral palsy were included. The initial search identified 4,645 studies, of which eight met the eligibility criteria and were included in the final analysis. The findings demonstrated that different gait training modalities improved gross motor function, gait speed, and walking endurance, in addition to promoting benefits in balance, muscle strength, selective motor control, and spasticity. Robotic-assisted interventions and wearable exoskeletons showed superior outcomes in several functional measures, particularly when combined with individualized training protocols of appropriate intensity. Evidence of neuroplastic adaptations associated with increased functional brain connectivity following gait training was also observed. It is concluded that different gait training approaches are effective strategies for improving gross motor function and endurance in children with cerebral palsy, contributing to greater functional independence and quality of life. However, further long-term studies are needed to determine the persistence of these benefits.</description>

Abstract: Running-related injuries have a high incidence and mainly affect the lower limbs, leading to withdrawal from sports practice. Understanding the severity of these injuries can contribute to the planning of preventive and treatment strategies. The general objective of this study was to analyze the severity of running-related musculoskeletal injuries that occurred in the last 12 months among road runners. The specific objectives were to verify the association between severity, type, injury mechanism, recurrence, affected body segment, and lower limb dominance. This observational study was conducted with 212 road runners, recruited by convenience sampling. Eligibility criteria included being over 18 years of age, running for at least 12 months, and training at least once a week. Data were collected through a questionnaire. The association between variables was investigated using the chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. The results indicated that 81 (38.2%) runners reported at least one running-related injury in the past year, with a withdrawal period of 61.2 (80.8) days from running practice. Severity was associated with injury type (p = 0.019), and no association was found with the other factors investigated. Specifically, tendinopathies contributed most to the association with severe severity (Z = 2.4), while muscle injuries were associated with mild severity (Z = 2.6). Thus, severity was associated with injury type, which may have relevant characteristics for the degree of severity and the management of physiotherapeutic treatment.
