Abstract: This work starts from the Cold War as a period of political bipolarity between the United States and Soviet Union. In the scenario opened up by the so called New World order, part of the literature started to interpretate the international system as multipolar, while an other part highlighted the permanence of american hegemony. The research analyses the global geopolitical scene post Cold War to discuss if there is, today, one new polarization between United States and China. Aditionally it examinates the ideological and party-affiliated polarization in western democracies. For that, it mobilizes several scientific articles and books about the Cold War, Post Cold War, political radicalization, extremism in western democracies, american-chinese tensions and characteristics of the chinese and american political systems.

Abstract: This research investigates the dynamics and experiences of homoerotic practices in Colonial
Bahia between 1744 and 1765. Specifically, it analyzes how the crime of sodomy intersected
with the public and private lives of individuals denounced to the Portuguese Inquisition, and
how power relations were embedded in the enactment of sexual acts, often subjugating subjects
who faced racial, age-related, and social vulnerabilities. The study is grounded in an analysis
of inquisitorial documentation—including denunciations, confessions, and procedural
records—from the Lisbon Tribunal, specifically focusing on the Cadernos de Nefandos
(sodomy records), Solicitantes (solicitation in the confessional), and the Promotor’s files, all
housed in the digital archive of the Torre do Tombo (ANTT). To deepen the historiographical
debate, this work also examines the Holy Office’s Repertories, the Ordinances of the Kingdom
of Portugal, the First Constitutions of the Archbishopric of Bahia, and the Holy Bible. Through
these primary sources, this dissertation explores how "deviant sexuality" was experienced in
the 18th century—whether openly or through fear—and how sexual conduct functioned as a
mechanism of power capable of both subjugating vulnerable subjects and ultimately
condemning offenders to the stake.

Abstract: The overall objective of this research is to examine the crimes and acts of insubordination committed by slaves that proliferated in the 1870s and 1880s in Brazil during the final years of the slave system. The press is the primary source and subject of this study, since, contrary to the notion—perpetuated by the literature on the final years of slavery—that newspapers at the end of the century did not report on slave uprisings out of fear of inciting panic among the free population of the then-Empire, this research will seek to show how such actions by enslaved people made their way into the pages of the press in news reports, articles, and other content. Based on an analysis of newspapers such as Diário do Brazil and Gazeta de Notícias, from the perspective of Social History, this research aims to understand how these newspapers’ coverage of slave crimes and acts of insubordination—both quantitatively and qualitatively—was distributed within the newspaper’s pages, how frequently they were mentioned in each issue, what role they played in journalistic discussions regarding the abolition of slavery, and whether they revealed aspects of the daily lives of enslaved people and the ways they organized to combat slavery.

Title: Do acadêmico ao algoritmo: a divulgação de história através do canal Historiar-se
Abstract: This dissertation aims to analyze the Historiar-se channel as a contemporary expression of historical dissemination in the digital environment, taking it as a case study to understand practices, strategies, and disputes over authority within the field of Digital Public History. To this end, the following research question was formulated: how is history disseminated through the Historiar-se channel, and how do disputes concerning the authority of the historian unfold in the digital environment? Thus, this study seeks to reflect on the historical perspective presented, as well as on its reception and public reach. Situated within the field of Digital Public History, the research discusses transformations in the modes of production, circulation, and mediation of History, paying particular attention to issues of public reach and the authority of the historian in digital culture. Methodologically, a qualitative approach is adopted, combining a bibliographic review with the analysis of audiovisual sources, especially the video produced by Professor Fernando Nicolazzi, in which the historical narratives disseminated by the group Brasil Paralelo are critically examined. The analysis demonstrates that the digital environment constitutes a space of symbolic and political disputes over the past, where the boundaries between opinion and scientific knowledge are constantly negotiated. The results indicate that, despite the challenges imposed by algorithmic logics and the immediacy of digital platforms, the conscious engagement of historians on YouTube enables the expansion of access to historical knowledge without compromising methodological rigor
