    <summary type="text">Title: Avaliação do crescimento inicial da cultura do cafeeiro em sistemas agroflorestais no cerrado mineiro, Uberlândia, Minas Gerais
Abstract: Agricultural expansion in the Cerrado requires production models that reconcile yield with climate resilience. This dissertation evaluated the initial growth of coffee (Coffea arabica L. cultivar Mundo Novo) in biodiverse Agroforestry Systems (AFSs) and in a diversified vegetable garden area, aiming to understand the influence of these systems on the initial vegetative development of the crop in the Uberlândia-MG region. Biometric parameters (height, stem diameter, and number of leaf pairs) were analyzed, along with their correlation with shading dynamics, associated biodiversity, and the physical and chemical attributes of the soil in different AFS arrangements. The research was conducted at two sites with distinct forest compositions and soil types. The experiment consisted of seven treatments, each corresponding to a single plot. Each plot contained three planting lines with 30 coffee seedlings per line, totaling 90 individuals per treatment and 630 plants overall (7 treatments × 90 seedlings). Over the crop cycle, nine biometric evaluations were carried out, recording data on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaf pairs, and count of established plants for all individuals. The methodology included nine biometric evaluations over one year, quantitative measurement of light intensity at different points within the systems, and a detailed floristic survey to characterize biodiversity. Biometric data were analyzed using the non-parametric Friedman test. The results showed that the oldest AFSs (established in 2015 and 2019) provided the best conditions for initial establishment, with significantly superior performance in all growth variables compared to the full-sun area. Light intensity analysis revealed a shading gradient directly related to the age and structural complexity of the systems, while the floristic survey evidenced greater species diversity in the more consolidated AFSs. It is concluded that the structure and maturity of the AFSs were decisive for creating a favorable microclimate and for the successful initial establishment of coffee in the Cerrado, suggesting that this model offers an effective strategy to increase crop resilience. The results indicate that different agroforestry designs influence the initial growth dynamics of coffee. Based on these results, future investigations focusing on the specific characteristics and challenges of coffee farming in the region are proposed.</summary>

    <summary type="text">Title: Análise das apreensões de madeiras nativas em Minas Gerais
Abstract: The illegal exploitation of native woods represents one of the main pressures on Brazilian forest ecosystems, contributing to environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and the impairment of ecosystem services. In Minas Gerais, a state that contains important remnants of native vegetation, the monitoring of forest product seizures constitutes a strategic tool to support environmental inspection actions and strengthen natural resource management. In this context, Chapter 1 of this dissertation presents the theoretical framework, justification, research objectives, and methodology for data collection and analysis, aimed at interpreting the spatio-temporal dynamics of native woods seizures in the state between 2019 and 2024, seeking to identify seasonal patterns, temporal trends, and priority areas of occurrence. Chapter 2 addresses the statistical analysis of seizures using 26,248 records provided by the State Secretariat for Environment and Sustainable Development (SEMAD). To this end, time series were developed to evaluate the behavior of seizures throughout the studied period, applying the Friedman and Scott-Knott tests to verify significant differences among groups and cluster similar ones, thereby enabling the identification of the influence of seasonality on the Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) model, in addition to modeling and future projections. Subsequently, Chapter 3 presents the spatial analysis of occurrences through Kernel Density Estimation (KDE), using georeferenced data processed in the QGIS software to identify hotspots and spatial concentration patterns of seizures. The results revealed well-defined spatio-temporal patterns in native woods seizures in Minas Gerais, with a higher incidence of violations during the dry season, especially between July&#xD;
and September. The SARIMA modeling proved to be suitable for representing the historical behavior of seizures and assisting in the projection of future trends. The spatial analysis using KDE revealed a persistent concentration of occurrences in the Jequitinhonha and Rio Doce Valley regions, associated with the availability of forest resources, logistical accessibility, and proximity to urban centers. It is concluded that the integration of time series and spatial analysis techniques constitutes an efficient approach to understanding the dynamics of illegal native woods exploitation, contributing to the strategic planning of environmental enforcement, optimization of resource allocation, and strengthening of evidence-based public policies.</summary>

    <summary type="text">Title: Encerramento de locais de disposição inadequada de resíduos sólidos urbanos: o contexto brasileiro frente à países desenvolvidos
Abstract: It is known that final disposal of MSW carried out improperly (in Dumps or Controlled &#xD;
Landfills) has a high potential to cause a range of problems ranging from soil, water and &#xD;
air pollution to social and health problems such as contamination with potentially toxic, &#xD;
carcinogenic, or mutagenic chemical substances. The present work aimed to evaluate and &#xD;
establish an overview of the current situation in Brazil regarding the decision on the need &#xD;
to  close  inappropriate MSW  disposal  sites  with  the  existence  or  not  of  guidelines  for &#xD;
action. Information was sought on the subject in selected developed worldwide countries &#xD;
and at the national level, to analyze existing scenarios and propose possible strategies on &#xD;
the matter. During  the  study the  three  stages were covered,  the  first  by  the  search  for &#xD;
information in the international context through legislation, and the second and third the &#xD;
search  in  the  national  context,  respectively  in  the  federal  and  state  context,  through &#xD;
searches  in  legislation  and  entities.  All  searches  for  documents  with  information &#xD;
regarding the closure or monitoring of areas with irregular disposal of MSW were carried &#xD;
out at official sites such as official government websites, technical standards and public &#xD;
agencies, and the searches were carried out between June and November 2023. Results &#xD;
of the work show that there is a huge deficiency in Brazil in the mapping of contaminated &#xD;
areas and even more in areas contaminated by inadequate disposal of MSW. Based on the &#xD;
lack of knowledge and statistics on the quantity of contaminated areas, it is a fact and &#xD;
expected  that  the  problem  will  be  aggravated  and  there  will  be  no  solution  with  pre-&#xD;
established guidelines that would enable effective actions to be taken. As for the states, &#xD;
only 5 of them have some content about guidelines for closing sites with inadequate MSW &#xD;
disposal, such as Maranhão, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia e São &#xD;
Paulo. In the international context, although the use of landfills as final disposal is passed &#xD;
over,  it  is  still  a  used  solution  mainly  in  the  USA  and  Eastern  European  countries, &#xD;
however, in these countries there are guidelines and closure targets that are encouraged &#xD;
due to the high adherence of other solutions such as recycling and composting.</summary>

Abstract: This study analyzes the economic sustainability of the photovoltaic plant at the Federal &#xD;
University of Uberlândia (UFU), aiming to quantify its carbon footprint through Life &#xD;
Cycle Assessment (LCA) and to evaluate the financial feasibility of its full neutralization. &#xD;
The research examines the "Geographical Paradox" of the energy transition, showing that &#xD;
embodied carbon from the manufacturing phase can offset the environmental benefits &#xD;
achieved during operation. The methodology comprised quantification of total emissions, &#xD;
estimation of the reforestation area required in the Cerrado biome for carbon &#xD;
compensation, and an economic analysis of costs integrated into the project’s cash flow. &#xD;
The results indicate that the plant’s carbon footprint, ranging from 696.47 to 1,511.34 t &#xD;
CO₂eq, requires a restoration area between 1.97 and 10.99 hectares. Monetization of this &#xD;
environmental liability reveals a substantial financial impact, representing 30.97% to &#xD;
36.46% of total operational expenditure (OpEx). Grounded in Ecological Economics &#xD;
principles, the study concludes that clean energy project management must internalize &#xD;
supply chain costs to ensure full sustainability and alignment with Sustainable &#xD;
Development Goal (SDG) 12.</summary>
